Have a good time at the Highland Fling

By Linda Petersen
With a theme of "We RISE by LIFTING others" Highland Fling will be held July 28 to August 4 this year.

Friday and Saturday will include the Utah State Hammer Championship and Highland Games where men and women in kilts compete for prizes in such events as the caber toss and Scottish hammer throw.

This year all the tried and true favorites are back, including the fine arts show, the Family Adventure Race, the Lone Peak Marching Band Pancake Breakfast and the Grand Parade.

Competitions include a disc golf tournament, baby contest, strong man competition, balloon hunt, the 5k and fun run along with, of course, the Utah State Hammer Championship and Highland Games.

Throughout the day Saturday, Aug. 4, there will be entertainment and vendor booths at Heritage Park. The Historical Society will also display historical farm equipment and artifacts at the Community Center that day.
