Highland council approves contracts, annexation intent

By Linda Petersen
In April, the Highland City Council authorized Mayor Mark Thompson to sign a $639,791 contract with Kilgore Contracting for sewer and road improvements for 10400 North. The council also approved a contract with Eckles Paving for two patch road work projects totaling $57,852. This work is necessary as a result of several utility main repairs that led patched areas in the city's roads this past winter.
The city council also approved an intent to annex 10.05 acres of land located at 5901 W. 10400 North. The land is currently unincorporated. The application by Ivan Day, Clark Day and Joy Ruff will now move forward through the annexation approval process. This is one of six parcels being considered for annexation. It is expected to be zoned R-1-40 if annexed into the city. The council also approved a 10-lot subdivision at 4800 W. 11350 North.
Brent Oakes with the Utah Local Governments Trust presented city officials with an award for the city's participation in the organization's trust accountability program. The city will also receive a check for 5 percent of its liability premiums.
