Nashville Tribute Band entertains with uplifting music

By Christy Jepson
On stage for one-night only on August 22 at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre is the Nashville Tribute Band in a night full of inspirational country music and family entertainment.

The award-winning songwriter and Nashville record producer, Jason Deere, who is at the helm of the band, frequently invites other musicians to join him in his tours. Because he frequently brings new artists with him, no concert is ever the same. In the past, special guest artists have included: David Archuleta, Marie Osmond, Dan Truman from Diamond Rio, the country group Due West, David Osmond, Katherine Nelson, Dyer Highway and Mindy Gledhill.

Nashville Tribute Band has won several music awards. Their album "Joseph: A Nashville Tribute to The Prophet" released in 2005, won Pearl Awards for Contemporary Album of the Year, Inspirational Recording of the Year, Contemporary instrumental Recorded Song of the Year, and an award to Deere for songwriter of the year. Other popular albums include: "Redeemer: A Nashville Tribute to Jesus Christ," "Trek: A Nashville Tribute to the Pioneers," "The Work: A Nashville Tribute to the Missionaries" and "My Call to Serve." Even though their music is LDS-based with songs about the Mormon Pioneers, the life of Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith and missionary work, people from all faiths enjoy their concerts because of their musical talent and uplifting Christian themes and messages.

Deere began writing songs that eventually turned into his first album when he was serving an LDS mission in Las Vegas, NV. He recalls, "In 1989, four months into my LDS mission in Las Vegas, Nevada my companion and I rode our bikes home to our wretched little pink trailer house on Boulder Highway. After getting settled that night, I walked out on the porch with my guitar and wrote a song about Joseph Smith called 'Lamb To The Slaughter.' That moment on that porch was truly the beginning of these projects." That song along with others turned into the 2005 album "Joseph: A Nashville Tribute to The Prophet." Two years later "Trek: A Nashville Tribute To The Pioneers" was produced in 2007, "The Work: A Nashville Tribute To The Missionaries" was released in 2011 and "Redeemer: A Nashville Tribute to Jesus Christ" was produced in 2014.

The band has performed over 750 shows for audiences in the U.S., Canada, Australia and China since 2004.
