IM Flash a major employer for UtahIM Flash is all about making flash memory better than anyone else. IM Flash started in 2006 as a joint venture between Intel and Micron to create non-volatile memory for computers. Flash memory is a kind of memory that retains data even in the absence of a power supply. It is the kind of memory that is used in flash drives, memory cards and certain kinds of computers. This differs from traditional memory that must be connected to a power source to work such as the traditional hard drive on a PC.After metals, IM Flash is the largest exporter in Utah. It has more than 1,600 employees and its offices contains a "clean room" for working on microchips that is many times cleaner than a hospital. Its sprawling complex contains more than 2.3 million square feet. Its power substation is larger than Lehi City's, supplying enough power to serve more than 15,000 homes. Even with its large facilities, IM Flash committed to being environmentally friendly, participates in the "Clean Utah" program and has received awards for its green initiatives. Since its creation, the company has grown rapidly and, in 2010, received a $50 million grant from the State of Utah to expand its facilities. Its main facility is found in Lehi close to Thanksgiving Point, and it has a second facility in Singapore that opened in 2011. IM Flash is dedicated to treating its employees to "sweet" benefits. Not only does the company offer top-tier pay, it also provides tuition assistance, a generous time-off plan, performance bonuses, an on-site health clinic and flexible schedules that work out so many people have three- or four-day weekends. The company provides a 401(k) retirement plan that immediately matches at 5 percent. IM Flash also believes in giving back to the community and especially in supporting STEM programs in local schools. These are Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs that prepare students for future employment in these sectors. You can learn more about IM Flash online at www.imflash.com.
