SARATOGA SPRINGS—Local law enforcement will be out in force to meet and greet local residents Aug. 7 at the Saratoga Springs Walmart at 136 W State Rd #73, along with the city's fire department and other agencies.
From 6 to 9 p.m. at Night Out Against Crime, (which is held across the nation) local residents can enjoy demonstrations, a dunk tank ( where they can dunk a cop), free food and activities and a chance to check out police cars, fire trucks, ambulances and AirMed and Lifeflight helicopters.

Walmart is donating free hot dogs and sodas for everyone while Home Depot will have free kids club kits. Wild Wolf Fireworks will also have snappers for everyone. The Saratoga Springs Library will also host several family activities. Safety information and treats will be handed out to all who attend.

This event is "really just community building," Saratoga Springs Police Department Sgt. Roger Williams said. "We get together with the community, fire department, and other agencies for public outreach and to foster a good relationship. We do have a great relationship with the community and we want to continue that and to build on that, to let people get to know us and to get to know them. "

Several police department units and programs will be represented that evening including the Explorers, Volunteers in Police Service, a DARE officer, detectives, SWAT, victim advocates, mountain bike ad the patrol division, animal control and the k-9 unit.

Utah Highway Patrol officers and AirMed and LifeFlight representatives will also be there to interact with community members.

"We would love to have those who are interested come and ask us questions and look at anything they want that we'll have out there," Williams said. "We'd love to get to meet and know them and to answer questions."
Night Out Against Crime usually has a great turnout, Williams said.
