Alpine closes roads on Lambert Park boundary

By Linda Petersen
Two roads on the Lambert Park boundary with access to U.S. Forest Service land from the Alpine city water tank have been closed off. City officials say that there have been problems with people shooting guns on the Forest Service property along with the dumping of old furniture and trash in the area.
City council members Kimberly Bryant and Ramon Beck said they had received a lot of complaints about the shooting and the debris left there. Alpine City does not allow the discharge of weapons within city limits or within 600 feet of a dwelling.
A second access road will also be closed. Initially, the city council considered closing just one road, but after council members learned that the second access road was also on city property, they voted unanimously to close both roads. The roads will be closed off with boulders and there will be signs notifying the public of the closures.
