The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recently named Kylee Wunder, 14, a freshman at Mountain Ridge Junior High, a finalist in its annual competition. Kylee worked with her mom to organize and host two soccer camps for area kids with autism, soliciting local sponsors and training more than 100 volunteers each year to bring their idea to life. Kylee, whose twin brothers have autism, wanted to provide kids with autism the soccer experiences she's enjoyed growing up.
Alpine

2014 Olympic Bronze Medalist Cpt. Chris Fogt from Alpine is currently representing the U.S. in the bobsled team the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Fogt is part of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command's World Class Athlete Program.

The city council has increased the fees for annexation applications to cover the cost of advertising and other notification.

Saratoga Springs

On January 16 the city council has approved a community plan for the future Saratoga Springs Middle School at the northwest corner of Tanner Lane and Redwood Road. The 31-acre parcel is located west of Redwood Road and adjacent to the existing Lake View Terrace subdivision. A total of 309 total parking stalls will be provided by Alpine School District for the school.

Lehi

The city's elected officials recently gave themselves a cost of living increase. The city code allows elected officials to receive the same cost of living adjustments given to city employees. However, employees have not had such an adjustment since 2011. Instead, they have received merit and salary increases. The 3 percent cost of living increase, which was approved unanimously, will be applied retroactively to July 2011. It will cost the city about $50,000 to pay both current and former elected officials the retroactive amount.

The Lehi FamilySearch Center at 3201 Garden Drive opened its doors January 18 after a dedication by General Authority Seventy and Executive Director of the Family History Department Elder Bradley D. Foster. The 8,000-square-foot facility serves 28 local stakes of the church, and also includes office space for Family Search employees and the church's family history department.

Porter's Place, a longtime Lehi restaurant will relocate to Eureka, Utah. The move comes after the city which owns the building declined to fund some critical repairs and instead opted to sell the building.

Race to the Sky, a well-known Montana sled dog race, which took place in Lincoln, Montana February 10 to 13, is now the Young Living Race to the Sky after reaching an agreement with the international marketer of essential oils based in Lehi. Race to the Sky is actually three races within a race: a 300-mile distance race, a 100-mile junior continuous race and a 100-mile adult continuous race. In its 33rd year, Race to the Sky commemorates historic Camp Rimini where close to 650 sled dogs, 100 pack dogs and 125 soldiers trained for the invasion of Norway.
