Saratoga Splash Days celebration set June 5-10

By Christy Jepson
The City of Saratoga Springs will host a week full of family-friendly community events and activities during its Saratoga Splash Days celebration June 5 through 10. With the theme "Salute to Saratoga," this year's celebration helps commemorate Saratoga Springs' 20 years as a city.
New this year to Saratoga Splash Days is the City of Fun Carnival, which will be open at Nolan Park from Wednesday, June 7, through Saturday, June 10. The new addition to the Splash Bash Water Party, also held on June 7 but at the Sunrise Meadows Park, are two water slides and a water volleyball game. Family Game Night is new on Thursday night, where there will be an 80-person Twister game, a family tug-of-war, a family hula hoop contest, a diaper derby, a bike rally and a bike parade.
"The goal of Saratoga Splash Days is to bring the neighborhoods of Saratoga Springs together. It is to build a sense of community for families and our youth," said AnnElise Harrison, civic events coordinator for the city of Saratoga Springs.
By far the biggest-attended event is the Friday night concert and fireworks show. According to Harrison, between 8,000 and 10,000 people attend that night. Family Fun Day on June 10 usually brings in from 2,000 to 5,000 people
